Convivial hall space for a shared meal; excellent venue for a musical event. Both the church and the hall can be hired, either separately or together. The two spaces work well together to increase capacity or to allow events to flow between the spaces.

Availability

The church and the hall are both available on weekend afternoons and evenings. On week days, they are available during the day and in the evening. Please enquire for availability, contact details are below.

Maximum capacity

The church seats up to 90, the configuration of the seating is fixed. The hall can accommodate up to 50 people seated at tables, or more without the tables.

Description & special conditions

Both the church and the hall can be hired, either separately or together, they are within the same building and there is good flow between the church and the hall.

The church is available for worship events and for musical events. It is suitable for piano or organ recitals, chamber concerts and recording sessions.

The hall is suitable as a regular venue for community groups or clubs, or for one-off events.

The hall is also suitable for refreshments after a concert.

No food or drink is allowed in the church.

Alcohol can be served only with prior permission.

Facilities

The hall has a well-equipped kitchen for catering, and is equipped with chairs and trestle tables. The layout is flexible.

The Church has a datashow projector which can be used for presentations.

The church has a grand piano, and a pipe organ, and excellent acoustics.

Outdoor area

There is no outdoor area.

Accessibility

The spaces are at ground level. A ramp provides wheelchair access. There is an accessible toilet available for wheelchair access.

Parking

There is limited on-street parking in the area.

Cycle parking

Cycles could be chained to the metal gate beside the church.

By bus

King Street runs off Adelaide Road and is on the Island Bay / Churton Park bus route (number 1). Several routes travel along Adelaide Road.

Heading south towards Wellington Hospital, the closest bus stop is near Salvation Coffee, 75 Adelaide Road, (opposite Pizza Hut).

Heading north towards the city, the closest bus stop is outside VTNZ / by Hospital Road.

Walking

From the Basin Reserve, walk south along Adelaide Road to Pizza Hut corner and turn right into King Street. This is the wheel-friendly pedestrian route.

From Tasman Street, you can walk along Douglas Street and down the Douglas Street steps to Adelaide Road – swing right at Adelaide Road, then right into King Street at Pizza Hut.

A little further along Tasman Street (near 115 Tasman), there is a walking shortcut down through the grounds of Massey University’s Ako building; keep heading downwards through the car park to King Street, then turn left for St Paul’s.
